During 2012 Daytona 500
Glenview, IL (March 02, 2012) – True to its mission of providing fast and precise janitorial and disaster relief services, ServiceMaster Clean came to the rescue during the 2012 Daytona 500 on February 27 at Daytona International Speedway.
During a late-race “ServiceMaster Clean Yellow Flag Caution”, driver Juan Pablo Montoya lost control of his car and collided into a ServiceMaster Clean jet dryer that was cleaning the track. Jet fuel from the track dryer leaked down the race track and ignited, sending flames rising approximately 20 to 30 feet into the air. Montoya exited his car unhurt and the driver of the jet dryer, Duane Barnes, also exited his vehicle safely. Barnes was later taken to a local hospital for evaluation and released.
Within seconds, the Daytona International Speedway track cleaning team was on the scene to quickly restore the track and return to racing. During a yellow flag, the race track is cleaned and dried much the same way ServiceMaster Clean restores homes and businesses across the country when they are damaged by fire and smoke.
Like the speeds that attract millions of racing fans each week to NASCAR events, ServiceMaster Clean has a long-time commitment to delivering exceptional services to residential and business customers. In auto racing, a yellow flag signal it’s time to clean the track; debris removal and track drying must be done quickly and professionally in order to restart the race and get the drivers back on the track.
“In homes and businesses in (Glenview, IL), a yellow ServiceMaster Clean van means cleaning and restoration are being performed quickly and professionally similar to how the ServiceMaster Clean team quickly got the Daytona 500 back underway,” said Sam Zabadne. “The speed and precision in racing parallels the services offered by ServiceMaster Clean.”
Since 2009, ServiceMaster Clean has been the official sponsor of the Yellow Flag caution period during races at International Speedway Corporation (ISC), Speedway Motorsports Incorporated (SMI) and Dover International Speedway.
